I recently bought a house and moved back to Quincy after being gone for several years and was very surprised when it seemed that residents in my subdivision weren't being fined or penalized for allowing their lawns to get out of control. I purchased my home in early spring when there was still snow on the ground, so I was unaware that there was no ordinance pertaining to lawn maintenance. MOST towns have one due to rodent control and so forth, but apparently Quincy is one of the few who does NOT, which is quite obvious when looking at several of my neighbor's yards this year, including the one right next to me. I think Quincy needs to develop and enforce an ordinance, or fine residents who let their grass growth get out of control. It makes not ONLY the offending residents property look "dumpy" but makes the entire neighborhood look bad. It should also include a clause about excessive "junk" that can be seen from the street and neighboring property.
